The Core:

Womanhood, Childbirth, and Motherhood once coveted positions, are now lost art forms. These stages of life have been disgraced by the influences and pressures of our modern societies. Growing up we are torn, struggling with the questions, “ How can I have it all?” and “How to have it all” with so little guidance. These stages of life, were not originally meant to be fulfilled alone, but fostered and nurtured by strong communities.

So, how do we reintroduce this concept to our communities? My philosophy, by reshaping the way we view this part of the journey. These stages are not to be loathed and cast aside, but to be cherished and understood. Not one single person’s journey, but the combination of experiences to bring forth a better way.

Who am I?

Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Friend, Woman, Doula, and Educator.

My desire to work as a doula was conceived with the simple question, “ How can I truly help?” I found that many of the most common routes, though readily available, often inhibit the natural flow and progression of childbirth. So I began to explore the alternative… “What does it look like when women are able to connect with their bodies while still using proven methods?”

I found my answers in the works of Doulas! Women supporting women in reconnecting to their bodies and making this lost art form, the new norm. I found programs that relied heavily on evidence based instructions, but also prized listening to the body. I began to connect with women, mothers, and other professionals to see how best to put my services to use and founded Delaiah. My promise is to do my part in “Restoring the Intrinsic Connection Betwixt Womanhood, Childbirth, and Motherhood.”
